The Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) is a carnivorous plant native to the Carolinas' wetlands. It has rosettes of heart-shaped leaves with traps formed by hinged lobes and interlocking teeth. When insects touch the trap's trigger hairs, the lobes snap shut, and digestive enzymes break down the prey.
