Asters usually have strong straight stems, branching into a spray of flowers in a wide range of colours and sizes. Most asters are great for flower arranging. Don't forget the annual China asters (Callistephus) too. Before put in vase, strip the foliage off the lower half of the stems, and place them into water with flower food. Expect a vase life of 4 to 7 days or even longer.
